Anyone recommend a CPU heatsink for a i7-8700

The socket is that FCLGA1151 and it's a compact tower so low profile is best

Also RED LEDS to match my case & RedDragon keyboard
Nice to have but not critical those RED LEDS

No Christmas tree multi hue LEDS. Just RED

Also from Amazon.... I live in a cabin on a mountain top

The LED requirement would limit you severely.

I looked at Newegg rather than Amazon. They show only 5 coolers with LEDs under 150 mm in height and I doubt if any of them are above average within their price range.

60mm to 89mm, 120mm to 150mm, Intel LGA 1151, Addressable RGB, Orange, Multi-Color, Green, Blue, CPU Fans & Heatsinks, Fans & PC Cooling, Components - Newegg.com

You don't say whether your cooling requirements are high, average, or low, so maybe a mediocre cooler is just fine with you if it has the right LEDs.

Nor did you mention anything about your budget.

You should be able to determine maximum acceptable height from your case spec sheet.

If you can do without LEDs and you want something above average in cooling capability, I'd look at something from Cryorig or Noctua, particularly if you prefer something on the quiet side. Try to find something with 120 mm fan or larger. Those that blow down onto the CPU will probably not cool as well as those that blow sideways.

Take a look at Noctua. They make excellent fans and coolers.

Noctua has a lot of options. They are excellent with good customer support.

    Thanks y'all

    Gives me a starting point

Used 2 B that there were only a few but now everybody & their uncle is in the CPU cooler market

That Dark Rock cooler sounds good, a bit pricey but it's not like a CPU cooler is a monthly expense and going max on the cooling never hurts, especially with hard core "Gaming PC Abuse Syndrome"

    Again, Thanks
