Heatkiller 4 pro verses Opimus cpu block first post 4 for EK blocks
Hi,
Been some buzz about these water blocks and a not so great review on techpowerup only showing a meager 1c better on their testing results
Optimus Foundation CPU Block (Intel) Review | TechPowerUp
Optimus Signature V2 CPU Block Review | TechPowerUp
I altered my signature demo block a little because it wasn't making good contact with the top of my chip it had just a little too much bow and I wasn't getting very good results but if you look at the image where the scratches are on the block that is where i lapped it down a little so the bow would be reduced.
It does work well now but as said I had to alter it's bow so results are not what someone else might find.
All I have is testing with the 119.us foundation block which is pretty impressive at higher clocks way more than 1c
4.5 was only about 3c better than the Heatkiller 4 pro copper/ plexi
Used static mounts on the HK 4 pro as well to keep things as equal as possible that plus the HK 2066 mounts aren't very good 1151 socket they use conventional studs/ springs and nut
2066 they used a bolt/ spring and washer so talk about awkward to keep a cpu block centered while mounting it :/
I had some extra bitspower summit mounts that worked pretty good for this purpose for HK I was using a ek evo water block mounts prior it was more conventional system but thought I'd use static mounts/ no springs just as the optimus blocks use.
Max core temps speak for themselves on how well the foundation handles high clock temps
Added some little water block images to show the blocks rotation for that test
HK 4 pro likes goofy mount where as foundation likes and is designed for normal mount
Optimus foundation kept hottest and coldest cores within 10c of each other where as HK 4 pro looses it past 4.5
