IMHO, It is also about reliability and warranty. The WDC black has a 5 yr warranty. Depends on what your expectations are.
    My backup scheme is

system (separately data) -> internal 2 TB Raid 0 SSD -> external WDC 6 TB HDD -> less reliable external HDD -> offline storage over time.
When I HDD drives in my system they were always the WD Blacks. Good steady solid drives. In fact the only HDD drives I've ever used were WD drives going back to 1998 when got my first (custom built) PC.

Also have a WD NAS 4-bay (diskless) drive with four 6TB WD Red Pro drives in a RAID10 configuration so the actual available storage is 12TB but the realiability and performance screams. So far the system has been running 24/7 since April of 2019 without hiccup.

For me, Western Digital HDD drives and Samsung SSD drives. Currently have no HDD drives in my main rig.

My backups consists of local to NAS and online cloud solution. I use Acronis for my local backups.

I've a couple of the older versions - 2 & 4TB. Almost bought the one you linked to in Dec but decided to hold off. Good price though. And going by the ones I have should be as just as solid. I had mine for 5 & 7 years.
Yeah, it works great for what I bought it for. It's for holding Macrium images of my son's new desktop and my desktop.

I'm not running spinners in my desktops anymore either. All SSD. All PCI-E NVMe's actually.

Yeah, I've got two PCI-E NVMe drives and 3 SATA SSD drives.
