Tax Time Gaming Build Wish List

I just want to put my list on here and if anyone thinks I should use something different or has a better idea I'm all for it, let me hear your thoughts on this build I'm looking into.

    2 x EVGA GeForce RTX 2070 Super Xc Hybrid w/ NV-Link Bridge
    Intel I9-9900K
    4 x 8gb Corsair RGB Pro DDR4 3600
Samsung 970 EVO 1tb M.2 for the OS
    Maximus XI Hero Z390

    I'm reusing...
    Corsair Hydro H150i Pro w/ 3 120mm 7500rpm fans
    5 x UpHere RGB 140mm fans
3 x SSHDD for movies and files
1 x Samsung 500GB EVO SSD For games
    1000watt EVGA PSU
    2 x 120mm 3000rpm fans

It's an entertainment pc for games all day and movies at night. Not a workstation so no editing or streaming. Basic focus is on Gaming.

I was considering the Threadripper 2950x 32-thread but the Intel I9 seems to get better fps according to youtube videos.

IDK. SLI is a dying thing. Myself, I would sink more money into a 2080 super or Ti, or wait for the Ampere based Nvidia cards or newer AMD to come out. That might be soon, though looks like summertime+ ? The rest seems fine.

BTW, except for your "2x", the fonts are black and don't show up in the dark theme.

I know sli is said to be dying but I honestly think someone out there is creating hardware or software to trick the OS into thinking there's just one massive card. It's been done with WiFi. This vpn I have combines separate connections into one increasing your speed at the cost of ping. It gives me hope the same can be done for multiple gpu's.

Yes, a 2080ti is what I REALLY want but to spend $1200 on a single card bothers me especially when people are showing off 2x RTX 2070 Supers crushing the 2080ti in most games and at the minimum matching performance for the same or even cheaper prices.

Waiting around is not a good idea for me especially when the lady of the house gets into one of her "Kids need this and that" mode. That Graphics card money will disappear faster than a fart in the wind.

Not sure how to fix the font issue.

I forgot to mention I currently have a single GTX1080 Founders edition which when in SLI mode is a bit faster than the 2080 ti in random tests I've found online. If I just buy a 2nd 1080 I should be just as fast as 2 2070supers just without the RTX shader (It's a shader right?) that hardly any games out now support.

What resolution do you plan to be gaming at?

I mean on paper, an SLI setup might outperform a single card, but in the real world, the difference in a game between 123FPS and 110FPS isn't going to be noticeable. I have never been a dual video card kinda guy.

3840x2160 and I'm aiming for 60 to 80 fps average. I've been browsing and there's some refurbished 2080ti cards under $1000 so I will go that route when the day comes.
