I have seen other reports of this happening with specific RAM in the Gigabyte Master. A workaround that has helped some is to clear CMOS, turn off XMP, and manually set the few timings specified by XMP. I haven't used XMP for some years myself.

Another issue with the Gigabyte and memory overclocking is it ignores your input for the IOL/RTL timings and sets them way too conservatively and inconsistently. With the Asus, it applies what you set and fails to train and boot if they are bad. But you have control like an OC motherboard should let you. What you end up having to do with the Gigabyte is turn on training, restart until it trains to some reasonable IOL/RTL values, then turn off training so it sticks, But I don't get me wrong, I do think the Master board is a good bargain and the hardware is quality and am pretty happy. with it for now. With an 8086k, HT disabled 4 core/4 thread @ 5.2 GHz it bests a stock 9900k in photoshop.

Like everything on the net there's always going to be a counter so.... I just know for me on 4 straight Gigabyte boards - Z87, Z170, Z270, and Z390 (all XMP capable boards) XMP worked without issue. Can't remember if my X58 board (my first Gigabyte board) did XMP, but if it did, it also would have been enabled.

Anyway that's my "actual use" take with 4 boards in a row.

Like I said what I have seen was for some specific RAM. And you know, I built a Gigabyte Pro for my son with that specific RAM with manually set XMP settings and there have been no issues at all. You know I am not trying to bash Gigabyte.

You also don't overclock (at least now), so you haven't tested that space. These are overclocking boards so should be graded on their capability of doing that well. I knew when I made the purchase the Gigabyte would be a good CPU OC but not so memory, which is what I was looking for and I didn't think Asus could provide in Gen9. In fact, I had an Asus CODE X that I had to replace because it had a bad DIMM slot. I could only overclock my 8086K to 5 GHz on it and the memory I could not get stable anywhere above the 3200 XMP. On the Gigabyte I get 5.1 with lower voltage and temps, 5.2 GHX noHT can OC the memory to 3600 all rock solid. So the better gigabyte VRM paid off.

??? I was just trying to have a discussion. I don't understand why you want to be argumentative - I wasn't in any way trying to force my opinion on you, and I think in fact I was being very factual. Other people have problems, you haven't. So what's the point?

Maybe it was faulty in that area then.

I used Gigabyte MBs for years but they dropped the ball on Ryzen. Avoided MSI like a plague. Couple of years ago I decided to clean my basement from all MBs and other HW that i changed for other people thru some 15+ years and most of burned MBs were MSI, got a good buck from recyclers though.
Didn't like Asus because of relatively high prices but for Ryzen they still have best BIOS. My last 2 Asus MBs (X370 and x470) seem the best for now.

I don't know; I just now XMP was never problematic for me on any of my five Gigabyte boards (my X58 board is XMP capable).

Edit: (because I keep forgetting there are more AMD board users now) - If we're talking "AMD" boards and XMP memory issues, well that's something different as I'm hearing all sorts of stories about memory issues and AMD boards, including admittedly, XMP problems.

Anyway what I thought I knew (from an Intel perspective) is being severely challenged with all the AMD systems out now
