I may have found the reason that the 64bit is crashing on startup for me:

There are various reasons PerformanceTest might not launch correctly
    I have Riva Tuner installed
RivaTuner is a 3rd party graphic card software utility. It does frame rate display and video capture.
Riva Tuner is also called Afterburner and Riva Tuner Statistics Server (RTSS).

Unfortunately it is also buggy and can cause some 3D applications to crash.

The observed crash occurs in Win10 in d3d9.dll (version 10.0.15063), which Riva presumably hooks into. Other older versions of d3d9.dll are OK it seems.

    Crash dump information is
    EXCEPTION_RECORD: (.exr -1)
    ExceptionAddress: 00007ffe2d52fd0c (d3d9!CSwapChain::Reset)
    ExceptionCode: c0000005 (Access violation)

Uninstalling RivaTuner / Afterburner can fix the problem.

Copying a old version of d3d9.dll (e.g. version 10.0.14393) into the PerformanceTest install folder can also fix the problem.

    So we'll see what happens:
I still have my Windows.old folder

Not too bad for a Laptop I guess. Took a big hit because my screen is only 1080p. Also..... a question, why would the test use the intel onboard graphics for the Direct X 12 test instead of my GTX 1060? Still 93% worldwide makes me smile

That is one Kick @$$ laptop Scott!
Do you have prefer maximum performance on in NVIDIA control panel, and PhysX set to auto?
If you are on the Creators update, make sure Gaming mode is off in settings, and off course use High Performance for Power options. The fastest way to get there now, because they send us to setting first now, paste this in file explorer: Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Power Options

To test GPU DX12 go to Advanced in Performance test, select 3D Graphics and these settings:

    Test suite 3D Graphics
This test suite attempts to measure the performance of the 3D graphics hardware installed in the machine. These tests make use of the Direct3D portion of different versions of the DirectX libraries. OpenGL performance is not tested.
There are four tests defined, DirectX 9, 10, 11 and 12.
DirectX 10 and 11 tests can only be run on Windows Vista or later, additionally not all video cards support all DirectX levels and as such your PC may not have the hardware to run all the tests. DirectX 12 can only be run on Windows 10 and later.
While they may sometimes work, 3D tests are not explicitly supported under virtual machine environments or remote desktop connections.
    DirectX 9
    DirectX 10
    DirectX 11
    DirectX 12
    Objects
    7 planes, 500 trees,
    terrain, water, sky
    10 Islands, 20 Meteors
    50 Giant Space Jellyfish
Up to 100,000 Asteroids (25,000 by default), 71 Space ships (13 unique models), 1 Space station
    Mode1
    Full screen

    1680x1050
    8x Anti-Aliasing

    1920x1080
    4x Anti-Aliasing
    Full Screen3840 x 21602X Anti Aliasing
    Feature Highlights
Makes use of Vertex and Pixel Shader 2.0 techniques to generate realistic water as well as texture the ground based on the height above the water.
Vertex and Pixel Shader 3.0 effects. Uses DX10 instancing.Uses geometry shader.
Vertex and Pixel Shader 5.0 effects.Unordered transparency technique used on jellyfish.2Tessellation technique used to produce terrain.
Vertex and Pixel Shader 5.1 effects. Compute shader for bloom and warp effect. Pixel shader uses 5 textures on each space ship (diffuse, specular, gloss, normal, reflection, glow). Support for Multi GPU, Multithreading and DX12 features such as bundles and command lists.
Resources information The terrain is formed by 32,258 triangular polygons.
The water surface uses 260,610 triangular polygons.
Each plane object has 560 polygons.
Each tree has either 2214 or 1978 polygons (depending on which type)
Meteors are made up of a maximum 100,000 particles across all meteors.
Each tree has 2497 instanced leaf polygons.
    Each jellyfish has 8244 polygons.
The space station has 2843 polygons.
Each of the approximately 10,000 stars is a polygon.
The terrain is made up of a variable number of polygons based on distance and wether it is in the cameras view by use of DX11 tessellation techniques.
Polygon count for each space ship is between 5,000-30,000.

71 different textures. The maximum texture size is 2048x2048.

The asteroids are made up of a variable number of polygons based on distance and whether it is in the cameras view

1.This is the mode that the test attempts to run in by default, if the video card or monitor do not support this mode the test will be attempted to run at a lower resolution or anti-aliasing level, in these cases the test score will be penalized.3

2.This technique relies on the video card supporting 8x anti-aliasing. If your video card does not support this another method will be used but the test score will be penalized.3

3.In the case that a test score is penalized the score in frames per second will not match the actual frames per second the test ran at.
    More detailed results
By using the advanced 3D testing window it is possible to examine 3D graphics performance in more detail.

just messing round to see if it would even run.
By the way, thanks for the D3D9 tip @Cliff. didn't have a copy of the old one so, I uninstalled Riva Tuner for the run. Works I guess. One more problem to go and I'll give it another shot.

Thank you .... I love it. Much better than my Asus or my stolen Gigabyte P37 . I am getting ready to retest the DX12. Thank you for the information! I don't seem to have Nvidias control panel anymore. When I click on it in Control Panel it says my monitor isn't connected to the card. I don't really know what to make of that to tell you the truth. But everything else is set to High Performance.

There will soon be a flood of these, I would imagine. This is an amateur effort, using an intensive game. It does pretty much agree with what I have already tested with windows 8.1 though. Take it or leave it. As the author says, It is early days. ...
