    Corsair Force MP600 M.2 2280 2TB PCI-Express Gen 4.0 x4 NVMe 3D TLC In

Just ordered this drive as it's on sale for 16% off with free shipping and was wondering if anyone else has compared it with other Gen 4 drives? The speed says that it can go up to 4950 MBS while the Gen 3 can do up to 3500 MBS. After a new build for my youngest son as a Christmas gift, I needed a new one and figured might as well upgrade. Appreciate any insight ahead of time.

I don't think you can get the 4.0 speeds on current Intel boards--not positive about that.

Newer AMD boards do support 4.0.

I saw a good Youtube vid comparing Gen 3 to Gen 4. Very little practical difference, but benchmark differences may be enough for you. I suppose Intel boards will support Gen 4 before long.

I'd look at the Samsung 970 Evo Plus unless you have already committed to the Corsair.

Do you need 2 TB for sure on the OS drive? Rather than a separate data drive.

I have two EVO plus 1 TB NVMe and one 2 TB EVO Plus NVMe. Running an MSI MB with AMD Ryzen 7 3800 Gen 3 as listed in my system build. True nobody needs a 2 TB for an OS but my intention is to completely remove all drives but the NVMe drives.

Agree with ignatzatsonic; currently no Intel board supports gen 4 drives (at least as far as speed). Anyway seeing you've an AMD Ryzen board that shouldn't be a problem; but I know nothing of AMD boards so...

I've got all SSD drives in my system but my setup is two 512gig NVMe drives - one for the OS, the other for my photos for Lightroom / Photoshop edits. I've got another three SATA drives - two 1TB drives for music and light backups, and a 2TB drive for games.

I got rid of HDD drives to rid my system of thrashing noises. I now only use HDD drives in my NAS or externally for archiving data.
