Those are the best fan controllers. It's why I have one like it with analog knobs because digital will probably not save your settings on reboot...
I used to have a Pentium 4, Dell Dimension 4600 that looked just like that. I upgraded everything in that thing except the motherboard and heat sink. CPU, RAM, GPU, PSU, video card, HDDs and added a 5.1 capable Creative sound card for my 5.1 audio system. I gamed my rear end off on that thing. Playing everything from BF2 to BF2142 to Command & Conquer Generals Zero Hour, SimCity 4, F.E.A.R, and the Call Of Duty Modern Warfare that was released circa 2008.
Edit-
I was a member on another tech forum circa 2007 and a user there had a 4600 that he customized. What he did was use a metal cutting saw and stuck a hole or two in the top case and put fans in. It was pretty neat. Those Dell cases back then were built pretty nice.
Yeah this fan control is nice. i have one power input i can use on all 6.. but also the first four has pure throughput option if i want to use the motherboard fan ports so i can get the RPM value. The last two has only a 12V and 5V switch so it become high, low only.
I tried to minimize the drilling and cutting parts out of two reasons. 1. if i want to restore it to original(i have saved the parts in a box) 2. i want it to look as original i can. So i did put a extra fan in the front to suck in more air and the PSU has a nice big fan and the original fan to have nice angles on the blades, so it does shuffle a lot of air if needed... but is i dont have a big GPU and i almost never have high load on the CPU it runs quite cool.. 32C in the case, CPU at 38C and the disks at 36C and i run the fans on low speed... oh i do have 29C in my computer room.. or 28.9 to be exact. *lol* So i feel like that is okay an computer temp in this room.
I stopped playing games 2001 or 2002.. Last games i remember playing was Sim towers, Warcraft 1 and 2 and Doom 1,2 and final doom. and i think first version of The Sims was just released as i do have a copy of that one....
it was a long time ago i was a gamer.. and I'm glad, as i no longer need to have modern hardware.
