The only reason I was able to snag an Ampere card was because EVGA was smart and instituted a queue system. When my turn came up, I decided to jump on this card instead of waiting for my turn in the 3080 queue to come up (it still hasn't).
Yeah, I'm a big EVGA fan myself. I put my name on the EVGA list too....but I wasn't sure when I was going to build my box, so I didn't get my name in early. I added myself on Nov 20, (so nearly 3 months ago) and I haven't gotten any notifications.

I have a 3080 FTW3 Ultra, which I ended up getting from a "reasonable" scalper. I absolutely hated going the scalper route, but this guy had both the EVGA 3080 card I wanted, AND the Ryzen 9 5900x that I wanted. I paid $100 extra for each part, so rather than spend my life on websites and stock trackers trying to find the components, just bit the bullet and paid the scalper the small premium he was asking for. He lives right by Microcenter, so he just gets in the line frequently and buys what they have. I'm almost an hour from Microcenter, and have a full time job...so I don't have the ability to stand in line to try to snag new hardware.

I plan on keeping the case, just not sure if I'm going to keep using it for my main machine. If I do swap out to a new case, I'd likely build a Plex server/mid range PC in this case in an area where it won't have to be picked up and moved nearly as often as it is now. It's a very heavy case.
Ah, gotcha. My Core X9 was that way.

I have a friend that did the same thing for almost the exact same parts. I think he ended up paying $300 over MSRP total for a 3080 XC3 Black and a 5900x. With the massive lack of availability still, I don't blame anyone for buying from a scalper at a semi-reasonable price.

I'm seeing people on facebook market place asking $1700+ for these evga 3080 ftw3 ultras. That's a 2x price over msrp, which I really hope nobody is buying.

What I don't get are the people who seem to get parts over and over and over again. Do they have family that works in a warehouse or something?

I think with such low inventory levels that stores like microcenter or best buy should have a limit to parts a person can buy. Like each person would have to have a store rewards card that they have to use to make a purchase. Want to get a ryzen 5900x while it's a hot commodity, okay you can have 1 at $549. Next time you go to buy, yourcard would show you already bought one and not allow you to buy another while it's still listed as a limited availability product. Maybe they allow a second card for a 20% premium...but that's it until stock is plentiful enough that anybody can just buy one.

For example, the person I bought my evga 3080 ftw from wanted a rog strix 3080. So he went to the store and waited in line for them to open. They came out with vouchers and said we have ## total 3080s, we have X of the EVGA 3080xc and x of the 3080 ftw. He didnt want either card, but he knew he could resell either 3080 he could get for a premium and he would put the extra money he made towards his purchase of the 3080 strix. So, he just went ahead and bought it, listed it for about $200 over retail, but I wanted both a cpu and gpu he had so I countered his offer and we met in the middle for both components.

It's just disappointing I guess that microcenter let's him buy 3080s over and over again while the rest of us cannot get one period.

    Attachment 320646Hello,

It has been awhile since I have stopped in. It is great to see both 7 and 10 Forums are still around. Wanted to share my new build it replaces my last build which I believe you can find on the first page page of this thread. That build still exists and still runs great but is getting pretty long in the tooth. I used to consider myself and Intel fan but this time I went AMD. I am still a big EVGA fan but unfortunately to my knowledge do not make boards for the AMD platform. Chose to go with MSI for my motherboard, love the board so far but mystic lights is lacking. Well here it is. And its good to see allot of the older members still around.
