Oh also when the Trident Z RGB first came out, the software from GSkill would brick some modules and nuke the EEPROM and fudge the SPD information on them.

I get that. I guess if you're a professional overclocker every thing matters, but for the regular Joe overclocker, I highly doubt that's a real issue. Honestly if I were building a system for overclocking I'd of gone a different route in the build, including a GPU.
In fact, the only reason I considered buying an NVidia card for the first time ever was to get those high OC numbers. In the end, overclocking wasn't that important enough for me to move off AMD.
Regardless, for me, if I could have found the non-RGB version of what I got, I'd of gotten those instead. But again, I ain't mad at what I have now, and wouldn't feel cheated if they didn't overclock so high.
That's me.
Oh for 24/7 I'm very happy with my 3866, 18-19-19-39-2T, not the best timings but very stabile on XMP, and the speed is great for my VMs which run off of my second M.2 slot and my CPU OC'd to 5GHz. The VMs are really fast and responsive, specially when updating or running an AV scan
Also the speed is useful when doing graphics.
I only did those when my system was new just to see what extreme settings it could run.
I also went the other rout and undervolted and benched to find how low I could go, to keep the system cooler(less fan noise) and still remain stabile under very heavy loads, and (specially when undervolting) stabile at idle.
I then set a happy medium of speed and volts to keep the system cool, but have horsepower when I need it, and don't bench really any more.
For me benchmarks are tools to tune the system for 24/7 use
I just use my system for gaming, photography, and general use at default settings and it gives me all I need. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see what it could so given all the high end tech, but I don't have the patience to get to where you guys are.
I ain't no hater and am impressed with the scores you guys put up. It gives me an idea of my system's capabilities
