@essenbe, asked me once to provide my thoughts on cable management, so....

Cable tidying takes a bit of pre-planning and patience. It's also a willingness to improvise (example installing your own "cable ties" as seen in the first image). With that understanding your case helps as you figure out where you can and can't move or hide cables. Sometimes extensions helps (ex: fan extension cables) so that you don't have them stretched across the MB or case.

The biggest key is willing to spend time on the project, and re-work if necessary. Honestly at times I've spent more time on cable tidying than putting the PC together. Doing that will get you better cable management than you thought possible.

Pet peeve: I never want any wires running across the CPU opening in the back of the case. Stranger things have happened and if by some weird circumstances a wire gets pinched there... boom your system just shorted out. Call it paranoia and safety.

Impressive cable management sygnus, well done.

My poor maxed out <2012 MOBO machine. DDR3/SATA2

Time to upgrade really but new mobo, new ram, new case, etc.. it's gonna hurt unless all second hand.

Can anybody suggest a DDR4/SATA3/USB MOBO, budget gaming? Real tight budget ATM.

    Cheers

Thats not a bad system, A great budget build would be a AMD 3600 and a 470 board and some decent RAM

It's not a personal build but it's built by me for my new work desktop. Just waiting on the RX 5700 to come in for it.

    Spec's:
    Ryzen 5 3600
    Noctua NH-L9a Cooler
    Gigabyte B450 Aorus Pro Wifi
    32GB DDR4 3200
    1TB 970 Evo Plus
    Fractal Design Node 202
    450W Silverstone SFX PSU

    It's a sweet little system. It's replacing an Optiplex 5050 with an i7 7700.
    Great job!

    Question for @ThrashZone

How does one mount a radiator + fans in the Corsair 450D front compartment? Do you need extra long screws or does the rad and fans screw in with separate screws?

    Hi,
Rads come with both long and short screws
They don't really account for push/ pull fan configuration so if you want fans on both sides of the rad you'll need to find some more longer screws
Any hardware store will have them just take one with you.

280mm radiator fits perfectly on the front assuming you don't use hdd rack. about the smallest rad I'd use 240mm just isn't good enough.

    Oops
But on another note D450 case already comes with screws for the front fans which you can still use for those fans
Short screws just to attach the rad there are good
And it also should come with long screws for secondary fans on the inside so you should be all set for push/ pull or just single case fan config.

Be careful you don't use screws that are too long if you have to buy more. If they are too long they will puncture the rad.
