Well got some time to at least wire up the lights somewhat and tear out some ancient IR and RF stuff so i'm using one of these now Amazon.com: DEEPCOOL RGB Convertor, 5V ADD-RGB to 12V RGB Transfer Hub, Motherboard with 12V 4-pin Header can Contorl 5V ADD-RGB Products: MP3 Players & Accessories . The N9 really doesn't like the brightness of the lights and it's not in a very photogenic spot at the moment anyways. it's a start though.

Well sold my 2x 2.5 slot 1080's and got a used 2 slot 1080 ti FTW3 (still under warranty even) and finally got my hands on a 3900X (upgrade from a 2600) and NA-HC3. So threw it all in there and now now it looks nicer, and way more airflow too. As a bonus the STX has it's own slot again. My take on the NA-HC3 is that it really does add a nice look to the D15/S. I also want to mod it to make it slightly glow like the GPU leds and then lower my fans light output.

I don't have 8 HDD drives so less wires = clean look. Anyway the Cooler Master H500M has great cable management capabilities on both front and back...

    I do however have 5 SSD drives - 3 SATA, 2 NVMe

That case looks really interesting to build in with all the ways you need to route cables to be clean but once you got it looks really nice, good job. Reminds of the Haf-X. Most of my mess at the moment is I am using a deepcool rgb controller that lets you control DRGB (my fan rings) with a RGB header (my Taichi only has RGB headers). But I found that my strips work fine but if you try to pick certain ranges of the RGB spectrum it will just cause the DRGB to go nuts and be flashing or all kinds of colors. It only works with non full range colors like red but must be darker red. So now I have their own RF controller back which is small so I will eventually pull out all the deepcool wiring and just run the strips off the header itself and the fan rings will be on their remote which is fine.

Yeah, I also had the HAF-X....

In some ways I still feel the HAF-X is the better case as it has better cooling, as well as the ability to hold an optical drive as well as hot-swappable drives. The H500M though kill it in the "beauty" department... and one of the main reasons I got it.

I actually tried to get into the "lighting" thing but got frustrated with all the different connection schemes - Cooler Master has this, Corsair has that, etc, etc.... In the end I just have the two front case fans connected to the MB for lighting sync. And just use a Corsair fan with a red LED on the rear. Done. Finish.

If I'd had the room, I'd of gotten the Corsair 1000D. Man I love that case, but it's HUGE, plus the expense of adding lighted fans. That said, I honestly came real close to getting one but in the end it came down to the space I didn't have - plus the expense of the fans.

BTW here's the H500M all light up...

Yeah that looks really nice I also had the issue of the rear cutout not matching up for the new sockets on the Haf-X that was a pain back then. I really love my R5, went to it from a Core X9 (It is now a test bench at the office) after I went back to air cooling since it was just so much simpler. I think it's the only mid tower that actually fits 8 HDD drives, and is quiet if you are using the stock foam side panels. The TG updated panels stick out but also give it a great refreshed look and more space in the rear for cables since it's not recessed in. I almost went for an Evolve X but The HDD's look kinda odd as they are more like an after thought then part of the case, also they don't all line up for cable management and you have to purchase the brackets separately after you already sunk $200 into a case.
