Well today I received my Sapphire R9 Fury. Was kind if interested in it, but wound up getting one anyway because one of the fans on my Sapphire Vapor X R9 280X OC is going bad, and the card was giving me driver stopped responding errors. Probably heat related. Yeah, I probably could have just replaced the fan but I really was interested in this Sapphire Fury. Anyway here’s some photos I did for comparisons of the Fury to the 280X….
Notice how long this Sapphire Fury is. The stock Fury (FuryX) is about half that length but it uses a closed loop water cooling system. The air cooled ones that AMD allows for other vendors to produce can be configured as needed and this is Sapphire’s version. Note the heat fins extending beyond the PCB board...
I had to do a bit of wiring re-arrangement since the power connectors are in the middle of the card as opposed to the end like the 280X.
Also notice how tight a fit the Fury is in my Cooler MasterHAF X case. Definitely pushing it there...
There’s been a lot of complaints about coil whine with these cards but if it’s there, I can’t hear it. And this card is extremely quiet, even under load. I’ll also say it’s a bit quieter than the R9 280X.
This is by far the fastest and most powerful GPU I’ve ever owned as I typically don’t go for high end GPU’s due to price, and the fact that I've found top mid level cards such as the R9 280X OC gives me all the gaming performance I need for a single monitor setup (24 inch @ 1920 x 1200). In the end I can’t believe I paid this much for a GPU ($550), but here it is. Sometime you just gotta go for it :)
That said, here's my Firestrike benchmark. Nothing tweaked or overclocked... AMD Radeon R9Fury X(1x) and Intel Core i7-4770K
For comparison... my sapphire Vapor X R9 280X OC... AMD Radeon R9 280X(1x) and Intel Corei7-4770K
I'm about to post my Unigine Valley score in the Unigine Valley thread.
Peace
Sweet looking card, congrats on the upgrade. Board updated

Dude, change the card name to R9 Fury. I don't have the Fury X, which is the higher performance card. Wish I did, though not at its asking price.
Thanks :)
Anybody know why 3DMark suddenly decided that my card isn't recognized....
despite the fact that I ran tests yesterday and all was good. See post #25, and the fact that the card's details are listed here...
Ran tests 3 times and all three result in the same message - card not recognized. And yes, the card shows up in device manager as "AMD Radeon (TM) R9 Fury Series" And is even read by GPU-Z.
Is there a bug here in 3DMark or is it me
Thanks
Edit: Seems my card is bad and is going back to Newegg for replacement because it's artifacting. See my post here: [Official]AMD R9 Radeon FURY / NANO / X / X2 FIJI Owners Club
