    Very Fast overheating problem :(

Hey, I have a problem where my laptop gets overheated really fast. It reaches a very high temperature in only a few minutes, which slows down my PC, then it becomes laggy. So can you please tell me if there's any way to increase performance and make it stay cool longer? :)

Hi, what is the exact model of your laptop and how old is it? Your specs show Win 8.1..

Is it running Win 10? To what build of Windows are drivers available?

Basics: has it been used in a clean or dusty environment? Have you opened it up and cleaned the fan area? (May not be easy).

When did this problem start? Was that when you upgraded to a particular build fo Win 10?

I had a HP laptop that came with Vista. I upgraded to Win 8- and that seemed fine. Except that it overheated.. in Safe Mode!

It may be that you have a low level driver incompatibility.

BIOS- have you installed the latest?

Task manager; please post a screenshot about 2 minutes after you have logged in, without launching additional programs. Organise significant columns high to low if resource usage is high.

-The laptop is 2 years old.
-I never cleaned the laptop from the inside... Maybe this is the problem... :/

And have you looked at the task manager- excessive resource use? - and does it overheat in Safe mode? (It shouldn't).

In disk Usage, It usually shows I have 99%-100% usage of it. Idk why, but at the other side, everything seems okay

Processor usage is ok, and your disk usage has settled in the second.

Not clear why your laptop is overheating on those grounds.

Do you hear the fan running? Can you tell if it is? If the laptop is hot, it should be. If not, then....

Yeah, I can obviously hear the fan running
Well, I never did clean my laptop. So could that be the reason?

Well, if your laptop is idle with almost no resource usage, you wouldn't expect it to get hot.. certainly not quickly. (Assuming your 2nd screenshot was the norm). At least your fan is doing something- can you feel any air movement at the vent(s)?

    If not, then suspect fluff/dirt...

Does it also get hot in Safe Mode? (Normally you'd not expect the fan to run in Safe Mode.

You must clean the dust out of the ventilation grills, heatsinks, etc in a laptop quite regularly.
It is at least 6 years old, assuming the specs you have listed.

All you have to do is turn it over and shine a torch at the respective areas, it is pretty obvious and easy task to do.

If it still overheats then there maybe a problem with the fixing of the heatsink components to the CPU/GPU. A much more difficult task to fix that.

Hearing the fan is a good thing shows it is still working.

You have not sorted the disc usage column in your shots so they don't show anything useful.

HP Laptops of the Optimus type seem to have a rather poor cooling design, which does not help.

Lol, I'm using safe mode, but it seems that I can still hear the fan working, and it also did get really hot, again.
Idk what's happening, but I think I should clean the fan. The bad thing is, I don't how
But the performance did increase in safe mode for some reason :/
