CPU Bus Speed Question

As people have noted those speeds tend to fluctuate in some measuring apps. That's just the nature of the beast and nothing to worry about. And though it may show a steady 100MHz in the BIOS a more sensitive measuring tool may very well show fluctuations there. And BTW, even if you "manually" set the RAM's voltage and timings, you'll still see fluctuations in CPU-Z.

There's nothing wrong with chasing knowledge but honestly you're worrying about nothing.

See? Mine does it too. Nothing at all to be concerned about. 50 parts per million drift on a 100 MHz clock is 500 KHz, making the clock 100.5 MHz. This is quite normal for the tolerances of components in use. The only way that you will get a fully stable BCLK is to use an atomic clock. Quite expensive, and unnecessary overkill. :)

CPUID is just an indication of what the Bus speed is, not a precision measurement.

It is not actually varying that much, Any software application is just reading the speed at some point way along the road after various multiplications for various parts of the system.

The further you are away from the base frequency source due to all the other parts of the system the reading becomes less accurate, waveform changes etc, and apparently varying.

You are reading far too much into these settings and supposed 'measurements'.

Maybe 30-40 years ago I was using frequency counters, so I know how things can be upset by say a waveform change, amplitudes etc.
You see, I'm very old...however what was learned then comes in to play later on with the digital stuff.

Yep hwinfo some versions read wrong I've noticed
If you set CPU strap in bios to 100 it should stay around there yours is not fluctuating all that much like I've seen between hwinfo versions newest stable version for example does that and I just use 6.08.3830 which does not.

cpu-z I don't use or go by it too much seeing it's fairly limited info where as hwinfo shows more of what I want to see and it's best to pick one monitoring utility and close all others or they may conflict and cause irregular readings.
