RAM Slots 3 and 4 Problems

My motherboard is a ASUS Prime Z270-K and the CPU is a I7-6700K. The RAM is Ballistix Sport DDR4-2666
Slots 1 and 2 on my M/B work fine but if I try 1 and 3 or 2 and 4 then all I get is a blank screen. The fans etc are running but nothing is on the screen. I have changed the RAM and the CPU but just the same. Could slots 3 and 4 be faulty? I dont want to buy another M/B if it will be a waste of money so any help at all is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in Advance
    Alan

Check your MB manual, you have to populate RAM sticks when using 2 in certain slots. Also, is the memory listed in the QVL?

Thanks for the reply, Yes they are on the Vendors list. There is nothing in my manual that mentions how to populate RAM. I cannot boot to the BIOS with RAM in slots 3 or 4 so I cannot check if its recognised or not.

    It's on page 1-7.

Looks like 2 and 4. Try one stick each in A2 first. You may want to run memtest. Try clearing your CMOS and place them in A2 and B2

Thats for Z270-P I have the Z270-K so couldnt find it but the layout is the same. Its the A1 and A2 that is giving the problem. I will go with your recommendation and report back.
Again thanks for your time and patience.

Okay, you typed -P in the OP so we looked at the wrong manual. Good luck, let us know

Sorry about that, proberly because I was looking at P series prior to asking for help.

If I put any RAM stick in A1 then althought the fans are spinning and the GPU is lit up there is no power to the monitors, mouse and keyboard. The same if I put a Ram stick in A2.
B1 and B2 will work as expected in either or both slots.
Do you think its time for me to throw away this and upgrade?

Do you have some other RAM that you could try?

I tried Gskill and Ballistix with the same results, working in the B slots but not in the A slots
