    Magnetic Screwdriver

    Hi,

cant believe what I’ve just seen, someone building a PC using a magnetic screwdriver set, is this insane? I’ve always used non magnetic screwdriver (which is annoying) when installing motherboards.

Is it actually safe to use magnetic screwdriver sets to build PCs? Or have I been doing it the hard way for years? 😁

It's safe. I always use a magnetic screwdriver, it's saved my butt a number of times. I wouldn't be without it. The only time you might have problems is back in the days of floppy disks.

Anyone please recommend a set or would I only need one? Can’t seem to find none on amazon or scan.

Just do what I do. Take a magnet and wipe it down the blade of an ordinary screwdriver a few times. That usually magnetises it enough to hold a screw.

I don't know if it's still available, but about 5 years ago I went to Sears for the first time in 15 years and bought a gizmo similar to that "Duratool" thing from Amazon.

About 4 or 5 bucks if I recall. In the tools section.

It will magnetize any screwdriver temporarily if the shaft of the driver is susceptible to magnetism. Most are.

About one cubic inch in size.

Very handy, unless you like to try to fish out a tiny screw that seems to found its way into some nook and cranny.
