This !! Although I have a truckload of tools, there is one Philips screwdriver I have for more than 25 years that I keep under lock and key and I magnetize and demagnetize it with that all the time. In general I don't like magnetized tools because they pick up iron dust and shaves from my metal working lathe but for small screws they are perfect.
Those combination screwdrivers have very little magnetism anywhere else except the point, safe to use anywhere.

Left my magnetized Phillips head at a job I did, I wasn`t about to drive back to get it.

I’ve learned over the years to do a quick walk around before any contractor or repair person leaves my home to check for wayward tools. I’ve been amazed at how many folks forget tools, supplies, etc. Time pressure get to everyone.

Just do what I do. Take a magnet and wipe it down the blade of an ordinary screwdriver a few times. That usually magnetises it enough to hold a screw.

It's old school, but it works!

Agreed. I have two sets - The Pro Tech Kit, and the Manta Driver Kit. A bit expensive but worth every penny due to build quality and number of bits. For a starter kit I'd go with the Pro Tech. And yes, they are magnetic.

Anyway, I tried some other screwdriver kits but found the tips tend to strip when working with tiny screws that can be extremely tight. No such issue with these kits as the metal is a bit harder and the fit much more secure which also reduces the chances of stripping screws.

I have a plastic 3-prong grabber tool to get difficult screws started. The top left mobo screw can be a hassle.
