While running the tool I came across two RAM sticks, both of 8GB which the scan suggested me.

Moreover, a term that I came to know about was single rank and dual rank RAMS. Currently I am using a single rank RAM in my laptop (as seen in the CPU-Z screenshot).

Would a dual rank RAM be okay?

Dual rank RAMS offer better performance.

This RAM is single ranked priced at Rupees 2,680

This RAM is dual ranked and priced at Rupees 3275

    Hi,
Single or dual rank is that I've read just says which side the memory chips are on
Single all chips are on one side of the stick where as dual they are on both sides of the stick.
Single is supposed to over clock better.

Another note most dual that I've seen are 16gb sticks but that is desktop stuff.

If you are adding a 2nd stick to your system get the same as you have now for compatibility.

I am not doing any overclocking in order to avoid some risks related to heating and all. I will run my laptop on default settings. Then which one should I buy?

    Hi,
I'd buy the exact same type as is already installed
Or buy a 16gb kit of the dual rank if you want too try it

Just running at rated speed is over clocking if that is higher than mother boards default speed.

Okay I check on Amazon for Hynix 8GB PC4-21300 DDR4-2666MHz 260-Pin SODIMM 1.2V Single Rank Memory Module HMA81GS6CJR8N-VK

    Data Transfer Rate: 2666MHz

It is priced at ₹ 6,284

    Hynix 8GB PC4-21300 DDR4-2666MHz 260-Pin SODIMM 1.2V: Amazon.in: Electronics

The Crucial system scanning utility suggested me this one.

Amazon.in: Buy Crucial CT8G4SFS824A 8GB DDR4-2400 PC4-19200 CL-17 SODIMM RAM Online at Low Prices in India | Crucial Reviews & Ratings

The transfer speed is 2400 MT/S

    Hi,
    Yes
But usually their compatibility only applies if they sell the sick to you
Make sure every digit on the item matches what crucial posted.
If anything is different message crucial about the item and link them to it for review/ approval.

Mixed ram causes nothing but trouble.

There is a mismatch between your current ram and the Crucial. The Crucial is a slower freq but has a better CL.
Crucial recommends the slower ram as it is compatible with the Motherboard. Apparently the vendor of your system decided to run a faster ram and tweek it to run OK. The mother board will adjust the ram to match the slower ram (Crucial). If you want matching ram which is better then you could get 2 sticks of the Crucial ram (less than the one stick of the original) and sell the current ram. It may run slower but is compatible and you probably won't notice the difference.
