Long Shutdowns, Crashing, and Freezing, HELP!

    What's up guys!

So I'm having an issue with my PC that I can't figure out. With my hardware overclocked, if I go to sleep the PC, it takes about 1min 30seconds for it to actually go to sleep and it seems that it freezes in the process. The monitor shuts off and doesn't display anything while the PC remains on. Once I wake it and use it, if I go to shut it down it does 1 of 2 things. 1: the screen will shut off and PC remains on for about 2 mins until it clicks off. Or 2, it will display "shutting down" message for about 30 seconds, freeze, then click off about a min or 2.

I've tried changing the display port cable, I've set ram settings all to auto, I've tried using only 1 ram stick in different slots, and the last thing I'm trying now is reset defaults in bios. Still testing it.

So far I've updated the bios with latest version, I've reinstalled and updated IME and Chipset drivers. No luck so far.

Idk if this is a windows issue or a hardware issue? If I go into event viewer, there an ACPI 15 event that says to try and update the bios. I'll post below:

"The embedded controller (EC) returned data when none was requested. The BIOS might be trying to access the EC without synchronizing with the operating system. This data will be ignored. No further action is necessary; however, you should check with your computer manufacturer for an upgraded BIOS."

After I installed all my new hardware, I did do a clean install...

    Help! Lol

Ok, so after reloading my OC profile, the PC shut the screen off and then took forever to shut down completely again despite it working normally when the defaults are loaded. So this must indicate that it's a bios setting that's getting changed. Any ideas?

So after 15k restarts, I think I figured it out. There's a setting in my bios that allows you to set the max CPU core temp. I set it to 85c so that the bios would throttle the CPU if core temps reached that. For whatever reason, if I set this setting to auto, everything works as it should.

I'm still testing, but it looks promising

So far it seems like it's resolved! Why the hell "max CPU core temp" was causing this issue, idk, that blows my mind.

I've just been playing with my overclocks trying to lower temps. Been debating between max LLC and lower overall voltage or a level 6 or 7 LLC and a slightly higher voltage when not fully working.

Right now, under normal load, voltage goes to 1.271v and under full load 1.234v with level 6 LLC.

Level 8 is boosting the voltage to a Max of 1.252 on any load.

Level 7 LLC is at 1.252 under full load and 1.261 normal loads.

Testing level 6 now and so far I like the results better than the others.

    This 9700k runs hot!
