Underclock cpu to achieve low temps

I have a laptop that gets up to about 51c and id like to underclock to here my fsb (front side bus) matches my ram and lower the temps.

The problem of doing so is: i dont have the options in my bios so im hoping its still possible to do so.

Do you mean that the BIOS user interface or tool suite doesn't support underclocking?

If so, you may be able to do a few things elsewhere. Have a look at the RMClock utility.

Depending upon what chip you have you could possibly use the intel extreme tuning utility

    Hi,
No bios options then you'll have to go to power options / advanced power options / processor power management and change processor max cpu state and lower it from 100% to something else.
Minimum cpu state on a balanced power plan is 5% max cpu state is 100%

Hi, I undervolted my Razer Blade GTX 1070 Max Q by -.150 using the Intel Extreme Tuning Utility and it gave some good results. Give it a try. YMMV it depends if you won CPU lottery or not. Start with less offset and CPUBENCH and stress test and continue undervolting as long as it's stable. If a crash occur you know you reached your limit. It did help my CPU temp by a few degrees. If you're brave, you can crack open the thing and re-paste the CPU with quality thermal paste, add a thermal pad to your SSD, ram etc.

No good going to Power Options and expect it to run at 5% either.
Whilst you can make that setting it won't actually go there. From the specs of any CPU you can work out what the minimum frequency and core voltage is, it won't go below that.
On mine the limit is about 30% in line with CPU specs. You can set it to 5% sure, but it won't go there.

    Hi,
    Yes it works fine
Just start with max processor state 80% and see how you like it
Lower the max cpu state will obviously make the machine a little slower but temperatures will be lower too.

How are judging temps by the way
This works very well and very low system resources wasted to do the task unlike quite a few other utilities to do it.
