Long time no see guys. Ready to get back into the game.

Hi Everyone! Well some may remember me back in 2015 when I built my last crazy rig (Dual 980ti, 3 x Ultrawide 34" etc) and fighting top spots on the chart with Doorules and some other of you. It was fun to experiment, tweak and share benchmark results with everyone and just out of pure enthusiasm.
Well work in the last years had me switch to Apple, lately an iMac Pro 10 Cores.. I know I know but it's work related.

I'm ready to build a new baby but I've been out of the game for almost 4 years. I've ordered a few pieces so far (an i9 9900k and an Asus 2080 Ti OC Dual Fans, the 165hz Omen Monitor etc).
    I was also thinking to Raid-0 2 x 1TB Samsung 970 instead of a single 2TB. (Yes I do backups).

Before I do any mistakes, because I'm a bit rusty, maybe I could use some of your advice experienced gentlemen int he current build era, before I order the rest. what do you guys think of this? Any Comments? There will also be a few more SP RGB fans thrown into the mix but that's basically the core of it. I want to O/C a little of course, and that's why I'm posting here.

Welcome back Brawndo. Looks like a nice list of parts there, should be an awesome system.

Any particular reason you are looking to raid ? A single top line nvme drive is plenty fast. I use one for OS and a second one for general storage. Moving files back and forth happens incredibly fast. Imoh just not worth the effort performance wise. Now if you have a particular need then just disregard .

Thanks for the reply. No particular needs. I never experimented with NVMe Raid and if it's even faster than the already crazy speed, why not. But if the gains are minimal not worth it. I guess I've some googling to do.

Great looking future build, only one GPU?

Hi Dude! Yes I'm done with SLI for now. I prefer dealing with one card and my 1440P 165hz refresh rate.

Build now functional but I tweaked a few things. Also opted out of Raid-0 for my NVME drives. Just installed 2 x 1 TB 970 Pro even though the EVO would have been just fine and save me some money. Will post a picture once I get everything clean (need some cable management and desk cleanup) but it's stable and I'm very happy with the build so far. Biggest change is that I will send back the Omen 165hz 2560x1440 monitor, as I just received my Dell Alienware 3440x1440 120hz IPS. I couldn't stand TN colors although the monitor was great. 120hz overclock is stable. Also had to switch the 570x case to a 460X the Asus Maximus XI motherboard would not fit for some weird reason. I cannlibalized by 3 850 Evo's and from my old build, running in Raid-0 (There are 3 2.5 slots in the back of the 460x Corsair case) and also my EVGA 1000 P2 Gold and sleeved cables, and so far, really happy with the overall results.

So here is the final list. Will post proper picture when more presentable in a a day or 2.

On a final note, the 2080Ti is freaking overpriced.

Soon done, I know it's a mess but I'm experimenting a lot and just received speakers and the Dell Alienware monitor (I'm in love, underrated Monitor). I did a Frankenstein with my Keyboard and arm rest. My experience with the Razer Ornata (mecha-membrane fake blues) was a fail, I had a hate-love relationship with it but my wife love it so it's hers now. I'm back to my Corsair Straff with Cherry MX Blues. But I did keep the Razer arm rest which is awesome. 4266 Memory overclock is stable. 9900K Overclock is stable at 54 (Core 1) 54 (Core 2), 52 on the other 6 cores.but to be honest, apart from benchmarking I just clock it down back to 50 or 52 for daily usage. The Corsair 360MM Rad does a good cooling job but I'll switch the thermal paste to Grizzly. A few more RGB fans to install in that thing, the Audioengine setup, good desk cleanup and cable management and I'm done. Asus Video Card has like unlimited power on the Memory O/C but the GPU is very fragile. I don't have much room to play with maybe 125 at most.

Will post final pics when done. Thanks for enduring my build "diary". hehe

    Have a good week-end.
