Back to what was it 2016?
I had rebuilt my 6700K after I finished my 9900K rig with ne case and all the extras.

Yesterday I finally bought a couple of SanDisk 250GB SSD PLUS for 55€.
I just finished downloading all the drivers and software I want/need from MSI(Z170 PC MATE), and got todays new Nvidia drivers for it.
There was a BIOS update and I just finished that, now time to set the damn thing up.

I still have the OEM Windows key for it(Thanks to @Superfly and his ShowKeyPlus I used years ago, and stored in an encrypted OneDrive file.) as I bought this system from the system builder HYRICAN.

Just finished setting up the BIOS, drivers, and (some selected)MSI software, and got all my UWP apps installed.
Moved my libraries(except Desktop) and OneDrive to the second drive as I always do(It's great when you need to do a clean install, and when re/imagining you only need to do the "basics" on what is left over on C:

Tomorrow I'll populate my libraries, but this is enough for today.

    A 2060 Ray Tracing on---- <10 FPS

I have nothing against Nvidia selling their lower tier GPU chips* to make money, but they should cut out the bells and whistles that the higher tier cards have, as they will just slow an already slower GPU down.

*Just like farmers must sort the "pretty " fruits and vegetables as for consumer(display in the store) and industrial(canning, juice, flavoring, jogurt, and so on)

Interesting, I just installed a new VM as I wanted to test some stuff in Home but all my Retail keys are Pro, but I found a solitary old 8.1 Home System Builder key and it activated fine.

On a side note - VM goes up to 4K resolution - I didn't know one could do that on a 2K host. 'Suppose it gets the graphics directly from GPU.

I didn't even need the key as it re-activated with my Windows account before I had a chance to do it myself

But it is still good to have if I sell the old girl, as the new owner won't have an account connected to that system.

Being it was from a system builder, and not an OEM, the key is not in the BIOS(or on some hidden chip?).

Anyhow, the system is totally finished and my libraries setup/copied to it, I can pack it up for a while, and take it out & turn it on every 6 months or so, so the the SSDs get a charge, and retain the data before bit rot sets in.

Yup good idea - in Germany selling OEM keys is all good (posted about ShowKeyPlus 'sales' there in it's thread) ...
...waiting for the rest of the world to catch up!

    WTF Intel
Rumor: Intel sell Core i9-9990XE with 5GHz through auction
Rumor: Intel sell Core i9-9990XE with 5GHz through auction

The processor would become an exclusive one for system builders only (the ones that can get their hands on one). Intel will hold an auction each quarter, starting next week. In the first auction, three system builders would be participating According to AnandTech, it is likely that Intel can only deliver a few hundred per quarter. It is indicative that Intel can produce maybe hundreds of these each month, ergo the auction. And yeah that's the story, binned 14 core Basin Falls part will be old to the highest bidder, system integrators.
