They will be connected to the Corsair Commander Pro, if that helps.
Still needs iCue SW to control it.

New PC will have 8 RGB fans and 4 RGB strips. I would like to test them all out in the case before fitting the other components, so I was wondering if I can put them in the case, and hook them to the PSU so see if I got the order right with no other components.
What do you mean to check the order? Is this Corsair RGB fans and strips? For those to work you need the following: A Lighting Node Pro (included with your strips) it has two lighting channels. Assuming you brought a twin or triple pack of Corsair RGB fans it will include a fan hub to control six fans. The four LED strips you would connect them together and to the Lightning Node Pro (LNP) channel 1. The fan hub you will connect to LNP channel 2.

You mentioned a Commander Pro? Is there a C-Pro as well? The fans include two wires, one for RGB and one for PWM. Each RGB cable goes to the fan hub and the PWM cables to the C-Pro. You can control all of the lighting and the fan control from the C-Pro in Corsair iCUE, it's very good. You probably got some thermal sensor wires too.

If you power it all up from just the PSU I believe everything will display the hardware stored lighting which is a default rainbow effect. There really is no correct order, just write down which fans you plug into plugs on the fan hub and C-Pro for your reference.

This is the first time I've had to deal with this much RGB, so I just want to make sure the lights flow from one object to the next in the correct order.

I'm pretty sure for the fans the fan you plug into number 1 on the Fan Hub is the first in the order. For the light strips the first strip plugged into the LNP is the first in the order.

It's the fan hub that controls the fan's lighting, the C-Pro controls only the fan speed with PWM. If the bottom front fan is the first fan you want to show an effect then yes plug it into the fan hub #1. Order matters mainly for sequential effects like, wave, visor etc.

I just need to double check on what I told you is right. If your getting a whole lot of Corsair gear I suggest you register for the Corsair forums and look at the sticky's in the iCUE software sections as there are comprehensive guides and tutorials. You should find the info you need. Zotty's CORSAIR RGB Hardware and iCUE Eco-System FAQ - The Corsair User Forums
