What's the deal with b-die memory? Do they overclock better? What brands are using b-die?
Samsung b-die. best memory chips yet. According to Samsung, their a-die is just as good. Good OC aside, also provides lowest latency. Just like any other computer part, b-die also comes in at least 2 bin selections and best binned ones go to fastest and most expensive RAM sticks by various manufacturers.

Thank you CountMike an Cliff S for replying,

My first mistake was the APU, second mistake the MSI motherboard which is painfully slow. I am glad I have done much better this time.

Is there way to tell whether you have b-die?

If it's already installed and working you could use Thaiphoon Burner Thaiphoon Burner - Official Support Website to see most detailed options in your RAM.

New PC will have 8 RGB fans and 4 RGB strips. I would like to test them all out in the case before fitting the other components, so I was wondering if I can put them in the case, and hook them to the PSU so see if I got the order right with no other components.

Not if they are supposed to be connected to MB, once connected they need SW to control effects.
Only other way is to connect them to separate RGB controller. Something like these RGB LED Controllers for Color Changing LED Effects

They will be connected to the Corsair Commander Pro, if that helps.
