I don't find the effects that bad, just that anything beyond static or unicorn puke uses waaaaaayyyyy too much resources, and keeps the CPU pegged.

I prefer static anyhow, as it looks classy, and not tacky.

Asus have had over a year to hone Aura but it's still as bad as day one. Corsair's iCUE can do hundreds of lighting effect multi layers all while staying under 1% CPU usage. Asus have either not found someone who knows how to program RGB software or they're lazy.

Kol, the REAL problem with RGB in general is, every damn product needs it's own OEM software running in the background and doesn't save the settings on a chip of the product..
Example, my MOBO needs Aura, my AIO needs TT RGB Plus, thank goodness my Zotac GPU only need FireStorm to set the colors, but does remember after a reboot, and of course my Phanteks case RGB is done from a button, but in could be set to run through Aura sync too with an adapter cable. Oh and my TRUST gaming mouse needs it's soft ware to set it up also, but remembers also, or >I can cycle using a button, but only if I have saved profiles.
Now why can't ASUS just save set profiles on a chip, so the Aura isn't needed in the background.

The only way to avoid this is to stay within an eco system, but I want what I want

This is all the reason I stay under one eco system, Corsair. That sounds like a nightmare Cliff, all those RGB software's. Many of them include hardware monitoring and you do not want multiple software's grabbing the hardware sensors.

If Asus lighting was saved to a chip how would you modify the lighting effects? I think Asus just need to employ somebody who know's RGB programming.

I refuse to stay within an eco system just because of RGB, I want what woks best for me

The would then only need a portable app to set the color effects then.

I like Corsair gear anyway so that's a bonus, although their manufacturing quality of mice lately have been shocking. I even modded my EK Velocity CPU water block LED's so it runs off Corsair iCUE instead of Aura You just a need a special RGB adapter cable. The Thermaltake RGB eco system looks pretty advanced but I don't know how it works in practice. Corsair's iCUE is very powerful RGB programming software.
