I'm thinking the same that it's going to be a BIOS update needed.

Nice "recommendation". I really dislike these non-answers and bad PR speak.
I got modern standby working on my Asus Maximus XI Hero, the process is a bit finicky, so i will try to keep this as short as possible:
1. Download the most recent BIOS for your mainboard from the Asus site.
2. Download AMISetup_IFR_v0_1.rar from win-raid.com and extract it.
3. Now drag and drop the BIOS *.cap file on AMISetup_IFR.bat.
4. Open _Setup\setup_extr.txt and search for "Low Power S0".
5. Note the offset at VarStoreInfo (0x17 on my board):
6. Download modGRUBShell.efi from github.com and rename it to bootx64.efi
7. Grab a USB stick with NTFS/FAT32 and create the folder structure efi/boot; copy bootx64.efi into boot:
8. Reboot your PC into BIOS/UEFI and boot from the USB stick (you might need to disable secure boot).
9. Enter setup_var 0x17 0x1 into the grub shell (0x17 should be replaced with the correct mainboard offset):
10. After a reboot Windows should be able to use modern standby.
Here is a much easier way which basically does the same as mentioned in my previous post:
1. Download and extract scewin.rar
2. Open a administrative command shell and enter:
scewin /i /ms "Low Power S0 Idle Capability" /qv 0x01 /lang en-US
3. Reboot and done.
Edit:
This also works with every other BIOS entry that is usually inaccessible on the regular UEFI setup.
To get a full list of all commands:
scewin /o /s nvram.txt /lang en-US
I know that the last post on this topic is from a few months ago, but I also have a question about Modern Standby. Does anyone know if the Gigabyte X570 Aorus Elite board supports this function? I don't have the "Package C State limit" function in UEFI, I have something like "CPU C-States", but after enabling this option, the "CPU C3, C6" options etc. doesn't show

I turned on the "Global C-States" option anyway, and so I don't have Modern Standby. Can anyone who also has a Gigabyte X570 Aorus Elite motherboard confirm that they also have Modern Standby?
