I had too bump the offset back up +0.010 back to +0.120(1.168V) for Classroom as it BSOD's at +0.110.
Oddly +0.110 and +0.120 are the same Vcore, except, it fluctuates from 1.152 to 1.168 as it's at a point where it teeter-totters it seems.
I noticed it before, that when I dropped an offset 0.010 it did that, but if I dropped it 0.020 it didn't(when it was at that special point).
I'll just add the extra 0.010 now, so the voltage regulator stays at one voltage(remember this is Offset and not Adaptive, so the voltage should stay the same always)
For those who don't know what Classroom is: Demo Files blender.org
One last thing, as my chip seems to be really good, and I cool with an AIO, I had switched SVID behavior to Best Case Scenario(at top of ASUS BIOS) which also helps keep the temps down.
You are so dam lucky to have that chip Cliff.....as low as I can go in Offset mode for 5.1 just to be stable is 0.395v
Delidding only helps with the temperature and heat throttling.
I have had some "low" temps and still couldn't get further(when I was over 5.6GHz). I men I was"only" in the high 70's very low 80's, but couldn't get any further on water even by adding voltage( I still had headroom).
But then again, it could have been a heat or voltage spike happening so fast the monitoring software couldn't catch it
But my 5.5656 was at 1.376V and I tried all the way up to 1.45V and it still wouldn't boot when baseclock was rasied the allowed minimum of 0.040(I think it is)
I just raised it only 0.005 instead of 0.010 like I said above, and it was enough to push it over to a steady 1.168 with no voltage fluctuation(It's better for the VRMs that way).
Yes I know what delidding does Cliff, but if I can get lower temps, and they also change the top cover to a copper one, which makes it have a larger area to apply the thermal grease on, I might squeeze out 5.2 ... They explain it a lot more on there site.
Binned CPU - Intel 9900k | Main Performance PC
Expensive!!!!
Mine only cost 742 dollars, and that was more expensive than the US at the time.
This is exactly why I took the chance this time, and went with boxed.
Yes I got lucky, but I bought a binned delidded 8700K and it would not run one single hertz above what I paid
And the voltage was more than I wanted to use for 24/7(1.39V)
So I ended up using only 4.7GHz at a lower voltage.
Yes that's if you buy a new chip from them Cliff, but I can send them my chip and then they will delid and bin it for me, Cost is around 100.00 with shipping. Process is explained here...
