Not sure, I thought maybe nvidia just shipped them the board and they just put their coolers on them and then maybe Bin them to come up with these different versions.
I'm not certain on that either but I've heard talk of custom PCB's. I would suspect the FTW3 has a longer PCB than the FE? Probably need to have a look at EVGA forums, they're quite knowledgeable there. Not sure if the board partners also apply custom vbios's.

The dimensions for the 2080 Ti FE are listed, we`d just have to compare them to EVGA`s 2080 Ti FTW3

Nvidia 2080 Ti FE dimensions and EVGA 2080 Ti FTW3 dimensions. EVGA in white. So yes, there is a difference. Some of this is the cooler shroud itself, but not much.

I`ve also listed Zotac`s 2080 Ti Amp Extreme on the bottom.

So the triple fan cards have longer PCB's but we don't know if they are custom PCB's... I would imagine the design would have to be different to the FE? Maybe the stock shortage of 2080 Ti is because Nvidia has known for a while it had issues with it? I mean they're now saying "test escapes" have been released. Another reason could be with the latest news that they have a ton of Pascal stock to clear due to crypto mining dying off. They might have known this in advance to it being made public also...

Edit: Looks like the EVGA 2080 Ti FTW3 is a custom PCB, so OldMike should be safe with his.

You`d have to post a link on this "ton of Pascal stock" because like I said, the 1080 Ti has been out of stock for a long time now.

But yes, it looks like they have plenty of 1080`s, 1070 Ti`s 1070`s and 1060`s

But I can`t see them holding up on 2080 Ti stock because of that, I mean why would they release it in the 1st place.

I`m sure the issue with the original nvidia 2080 Ti is true.

I don`t believe we have any members here that own one to ask.

It would really be nice to know for sure if ALL the custom PCB`s were actually made by the board partners, if not, that`s a scary thought.

I suppose I could just post that question at the nvidia Forums.

Recently Nvidia stocks plunged due to Nvidia saying they have a large amount of Pascal stock leftover due to crypto mining suddenly dying. The news seems to have changed though, try googling it.

I'm not sure but it sounds like some board partners use the reference PCB. I'm not sure what makes a custom PCB, still learning myself...

I think it is more of a large amount of mid range stock rather than 1080/Ti. Nvidia Stock Didnt Drop Due to Crypto Bear Market, Inaccurate Claims

Ray tracing looks possibly doable at 1080p but forget it at higher resolutions. Maybe for your favorite RPG though. I saw a video and it does make some objects look very realistic, like glass and the reflections, some lighting, shadows etc. I guess it needs more power yet...
