    Overclocking Z390


    So I'm trying to get 5ghz stable on all 8 cores and I'm running into some issues. So it seems that 1.265v is enough for 5ghz, however this is only in offset mode. I can't get adaptive to work. No matter my negative values I input, CPU is stuck at 1.38v. The only thing that works too change college lower is setting a higher LLC. I've heard adaptive does not support voltages lower than what the cpu is capable of. I'd this y it's not working? Also on an Asus board, there a lot more options then I'm use to! What settings effect overclocks the most?

    So I e been playing around with adaptive vs offset voltages. Seems an adaptive voltage of -.120 is yeilding me lower voltages overall without instability. With an offset voltage, I had to keep bumping my vcore up into the 1.3v area because it kept crashing on desktop doing normal everyday stuff. Now on adaptive, I'm sitting at 1.243v level 7 LLC and still going down in voltage for 5GHz.

    Max temps are around 75c in Asus real bench stress test. (I have to buy better thermal paste and replace it)

    I do think I finally got a golden chip after all these years! Lol but temps are still high.

    Hi,
    Depends on which adaptive setting
    There are two
    Offset and turbo
    Offset you might try it's lowest -0.001 then do the rest on the turbo
    llc 7 I would avoid vdroop is too little
    llc 6 or 5 might be best but these effect vccin or input voltage it has to be high enough as well so what is input set at ?

    Cliff posted his bios text on the hardware thread possibly you can get some hints off of it be aware these are 9900k settings

    I'll check it out, thanks.

    At this point, I'm stable with an offset voltage of 1.270 Max with LLC 7. During load it's 1.252v. I have a few more tweaks to try first. My issue now is temps. I don't think that the cooler is set correctly, I'm getting 70+c in BF5.

    If I use adaptive voltage, unless it's a + offset, I can not use turbo settings. It won't effect voltage. I have to use offset which lowers the base voltage and causes instability. It normally idles at . 755v and for it to be stable at 5 GHz, it causes it to idle at . 652v which makes it crash when idle.

    So setting the AC and DC LLC to 0.01 has helped so much with voltage stability. I'm now at 1.261V at 5GHz. Still testing but I ran cinebench and got 1513 as a score. Still have a few more adjustments to make.

    Hi,
    That's sort of the deal with adaptive if too high or not enough the settings are ignored + or -.

    llc7 doesn't have much vdroop so 6 is usually better just increase vccin or input a little depending on where that voltages is at check the min max vccin voltages with hwinfo free.

    I'll check the vccin

    I'm not a big fan of vdroop. So that's why I like higher LLC and lower overall voltage.

    But it's looking pretty good now. Seems like I have a goodchio. It just gets toasty. Hitting 78c in Asus real bench and 85c in Asus stress tests.

    I ordered some better thermal paste and a higher watt PSU. So when I tear it apart again, I'll reseat the whole cooler and mounting

    Hi,
    Auto vccin usually adds too much and can also cause instability especially using a high llc.

    Vccio is at 1.312. I can't find a vccin voltage

    Hi,
    What are you using should be in hwinfo free in the voltage sensors listings
