You all are great! Thank you so much for the help! Just grabbed the card from EVGA.

Taking a look at getting some RAM now. Saw these:

    Corsair CMY16GX3M2A1600C9 Vengeance Pro Series 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 1600 MHZ (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory 1.5V at Amazon.com

    Patriot PV316G160C0K 16GB(2x8GB) Viper III DDR3 1600MHz (PC3 12800) CL10 Desktop Memory With Black Mamba Heatsink at Amazon.com

The first one is a bit more expensive, but had better reviews. Do these look ok? I think they both would fit in my board.

In your opening post you mentioned you had 8GB of RAM already.

Is it your plan to replace the existing or use with?

I've used Corsair on three builds with no issues.

When you do get the new memory, take out what you have and save it in a desk drawer, do not mix it with your new memory.

Ok, thanks, and yes, that is my plan. I was going to take out the old memory to be sure everything matched, and also, I've had the old one for at least 5 years, so I am sure it's time to replace.

I think I will go with the corsair then, it looks like it should work well.

I'm currently looking at this SSD:
Amazon.com: Samsung 860 EVO 1TB 2.5 Inch SATA III Internal SSD (MZ-76E1T0B/AM): Computers Accessories

Seems decent without breaking the bank. Does this one look like it would work well or be worth spending a bit more on a better one?

Going to wait till Cyber Monday to buy these to see if they go down in price at all.

    Thanks!

That's a nice SSD. I always use Samsung. Just bought the same line for my wife's laptop but just 500GB.

    The prices are excellent.

I think I mentioned this before, just watch the mounts. You will see the drive has side and bottom attachment threads. Depending or your cages this might attach without issue or you may need an adapter. Again some cases come with SSD attachment points right on the case or back of Motherboard plate.

Thanks, ok, I will check on the mounts. This may be a silly question, but do I need to buy new cables for the SSD?

Edit: Found this if this is what I need:

Amazon.com: Sabrent 3.5-Inch to x2 SSD / 2.5-Inch Internal Hard Drive Mounting Kit [SATA and Power Cables Included] (BK-HDCC): Electronics

Well that is most likely more than you need.

If the drive is going in the same location / bay they you just need the tray adapter.

The adapter you picked lets you mount 2 SSD's. Notice the power splitter, that connects to your PSU wiring harness using the old 4 pin plug and you might not have the female side near your drive bays.

Ha! I didn't notice that. Looking through amazon it seems most adapters come either like that, where you can mount two drives, or they come in packs of 2. I guess they really want me to buy two SSDs.

Thanks for pointing that out about the power splitter. I will keep looking around to find something a bit more in line with what I need.

Oh, good choice. Corsair Vengeance Pro is a really good memory. I had such 16 GB kit in my previous rig.

So, as of this morning, all of my components have arrived! I want to again express my appreciation to all of you. The help and guidance you have given me made this process so much easier and clearer than it would have been otherwise. Thank you!

So, after reading and watching some videos, I feel comfortable with with installing everything (keep your fingers crossed!), but I am a little bit fuzzier on how to actually get the best out of my SSD. I found the following guide, and was wondering if this is the process you all would recommend I follow. I am planning on using my PC for work and gaming (Star Citizen, Skyrim, Just Cause 3, Witcher 3 mostly) and want to get the best out of it.

I'd appreciate your guidance on this as well if you have a moment! Thanks!
