what to clean and how to clean a desktop PC?

Not having cleaned out the dust of the desktop PC for quite some time. In a few days I want to do a complete cleanup of it.

What should I clean? And how to clean?
The dust on the surface of the chassis will be cleaned, of course, they are so obvious.

Do I need to brush the MOBO, RAM or the SSD drive a little bit?
if I should, how?


How about the ports? e.g. USB ports? Do I need to attempt to clean out the dust?

What to pay special attention to and be cautious when doing a cleanup?

In over 20 years, all I've ever done is clean the fan filters and made some attempt at cleaning fan blades with a damp cloth. If the fan filters are easily detached, you can rinse them in a sink. And once a year or two, wipe the monitor screen down with a damp cloth, being careful not to drip anything into a crevice.

If you have pets you might have more of a cleaning issue than I've had.

If you keep the machine at floor level, it might be more prone to dust.

If you have a blower of some sort you could make a few passes over the case internals without actually touching anything.

I've never cleaned slots or RAM at all and never had an issue attributable to cleanliness. I've never spent more than 5 minutes at any one time on cleaning.

I wouldn't obsess over it, but anyone with those tendencies will likely give in to it out of anxiety if nothing else.
