    Laptop recommendation?

I'm looking for laptop for a while that I will be away from my desktop, it's sad yes. I am thinking of getting something that can do some light gaming, probably a GTX 1050. I was looking at the Asus FX504 series of laptops with the 8th gen i7 8750H processor but have recently heard about the mediocre cooling system causing the power limit to throttle from 45w to 25w causing almost a reduction it half the CPU's performance..

I have never owned a gaming laptop before so one question is are they even worth it? It seems the form factor reduces performance capability significantly. I would not be happy buying a notebook with an i7 8750H that can only sustain 2.1Ghz under gaming loads! Would the 8750H even be necessary for a notebook or I could I get away with an 8th gen i5? Should I pursue looking for a notebook that can do light gaming or I just forget it and get something that handles my daily needs? Appreciate any advice.

BTW Not sure this is the correct thread for notebook discussion is it?

What are your expectations re gaming on a laptop and how would you react to being disappointed?

Shrug your shoulders and move on, never thinking about it again?

Throw something through your front window and berate yourself endlessly for being such a fool?

Most likely you would be somewhere in between and only you know where on that continuum.

Laptop gaming disappointment is a common affliction, particularly so among those who are accustomed to desktop gaming.

You presumably have some expectations, but it's up to you to find out if they are realistic--via Google, youtube reviews, finding users of similar hardware, etc.

But it all comes back to how you would react if your expectations aren't met. I'm a "throw something through a window" guy myself. Not proud of it. Got the glazier bills to prove it.

@ignatzatsonic I don't have a high expectation for a gaming laptop, if I could play a few games on medium that would be fine. Just want to be well informed before purchasing. Apparently Asus have released a Bios update for the FX series notebooks that addresses the power limit throttling so that sounds promising.
