    Replace/upgrade CPU in Lenovo IdeaCenter K450


    I may have to replace the CPU in my Lenovo IdeaCenter K450 in the near future as the system will not boot when I restart but will (most of the time) when I power off then power on. Separate issue I'm working here: PC will not boot on restart, works most of the time from power off - Windows 10 Forums

    The Lenovo has a Intel i7 4770 Quad Core 4th Gen 3.4Ghz CPU. If I have to replace it, can it be upgraded to a better processor or do I need to stick to this one? I'm pretty happy with it, just curious what my options may be and what the prices are.

    How do you know the cpu is the problem?

    There is an easy way to test.

    1. Plug in some random functioning HD

    2. Install win 7 to that HD using legacy mode. ( you could just skip entering product key and it runs for 30 days grace period )

    3. If you have no problems restarting into win7 , then the problem is not the cpu.

    Right, I'll be doing that in a bit. As I said that's in another thread. I'm just looking for CPU options here.
