That will only help if your CPU and bus speed presently exceed the speed of your RAM. It's a question of compatibility.

Do you have more than 1 stick of RAM at present? If you have 2 sticks you may be able to benefit from dual channel access.

Whether that will give an observable benefit in practice is another matter.

You have to look up your motherboard specs, it should tell you what rams speeds are compatible.

Do you have XMP (eXtreme Memory Profile) applied in BIOS ? Which exact memory do you have ?

I don't have xmp IN BIOS. The ram is from Lenovo.

Before you go out and buy ram get your detailed system specs from lenovo track down that specific ram and see if it can be tuned to a higher speed via xmp you have a 6700k so it should be capable of using ram at 3200mhz

Let's start from basics. Default frequency of DDR4 is 2133MHz, anything over that can be considered overclocking. XMP is therefore considered overclocking by determined amount and settings defined in XMP. For it to work automatically, BIOS has to have that option. If not, most BIOS also have options to set memory manually to settings according to data in XMP. Apart from BIOS, chipset and IMC (Internal Memory Controller) built into processor also determine basic settings, like frequency and latency at every setting.
Unfortunately, brand name computer makers often release very constrained BIOS, without usual settings found in free market parts in order to sell only their parts at inflated prices.
