    Failed overclocking or success?

So, i have followed numerous sites based on overclocking 8700k on msi bios. As CPUID HWMonitor shows are what the 8700k is running and same with CPUZ. But as i stress test with Prime95, it shows otherwise. Core speed drops to 3.8 ghz. I originally set the OC to 4.8ghz at 1.255v.

Am i doing something wrong here? I also have Windows power management settings to High Performance (if that helps). Much needed advice helps.

ps- 8700k is delidded and used LM between die and IHS. Noctua thermal paste between IHS and heatsink.

    Hi @TheRandomBrian,

Is the motherboard flashed with the latest BIOS(7B43v14)? The factory shipped BIOS(7B43v10) causes the 8700K to throttle when running Prime95.

That's I figured too. But it looks like I have the current bios update. If anything I will just reupdate. I never experienced this issue when I had the 8600k processor. But I will try that theory when I get back home from work.

Could it be LLC causing the core voltage drop?

Oh. I think I set it to line 5? Let me take a few pics of my bios real quick before leaving to work.

If you saved the pics with the F12 to USB they will be in .bmp format. Take screenshots with snipping tool or other app and save them as jpeg or png. They should upload then.
