Just CM Nepton 140XL, single (but thick) rad is keeping my 1700X at 4.GHz in check just fine (under 70c under prolonged full load). Hope it will be good enough for upcoming 2700x too. Otherwise I would keep away from complicated coolers like Hydro.

I queried Corsair about the noisy fans and was told users are installing quiet aftermarket fans. Why buy something that you have to replace with something else?

I also tried a Noctua cooler. It was quiet (and large) but at idle my CPU temps were running around 40C, with the Captain 120EX they run around 30/31C.

    Hi,
Majority of the costs on an aio is the pump and radiator :)
Fans are a dime a dozen or at least I wish they were that cheap
But the default sp140's showed 2000rpm also just higher dba looks like at 40
The sp140 rgb's which top out at 1440rpm's I believe and at 29 dba

So clearly the ml140's are a lot quieter on the 115 pro at 20 dba :)

IMHO I'd Just spend the extra $30 for the H150I Pro. 360mm rad with Triple ML Pro series fans(Mag. lev.) with zero rpm speed at idle temps.. I mean whats not to like about being quiet or even absolute silence?

R7 1800x has only 95W of TDP, 105W tops at full OC. Even single radiator, 140mm cooler like mine is holding up to 60c my 1700x overclocked to 4GHz.

Why ? By AMD's conservative recommendations, 75c should be maximum while it throttles at 82 - 85c.

    A cpu oc'ed to 4GHz @ 60c (w/load, idle?) it just seems a little high thats all.
I cant give you an accurate answer as to why 60c seems high to me, not enough info, but if your ok with it then we all should be to. :)

I just go by manufacturer's recommendations, they have done most exhaustive testing and presumably know best.
