Yes that seems to be the only reason people upgrade their bios. I am not that worried about it. Now If I knew for a fact it increased my performance (speed) than I would in a heartbeat. But I think it decreases your performance.
If it does, it is only noticed in benchmarks. Normal usage, you will never notice any difference if there is any.

But for OM65, it's all about the benchmark

He still hasn't peaked, and keeps getting bumps with what he has.

But maybe the new CPU Core/Cache Current Limit Max of 255.75 will help when he can't get any further.
But there is no rush, as it will probably still be there in future BIOS updates too.
I'm guessing it's for the 9000 series CPUs coming out though.

It miraculously appeared this morning. It wasn't there last night. I checked 3 different times. I downloaded it but haven't installed it.

Steve - it is typical of the Asus support pages. They have some weird caching across servers that seems to not settle down for a couple of days.

Thanks @Geneo, I wasn't particularly worried. I figured it would show up eventually. And yes, this isn't the first time this has happened with Asus. They do have some strange practices.

    Interesting find:

I just finished the BIOS update(just got around to it), and noticed that CPU Core/Cache Current Limit Max. went up .25 from from 255.50 to a 255.75 max limit when setting my OC
After the Bios update I manually re-entered all the settings as in the past for my OC. Mine remained at the 255.50 that I entered.

Go in and enter 99999(it then sets it to the max itself) that's how I enter max settings in BIOS

I didn't have to do that, it displayed at bottom of screen that I should put in 255.75 (from AUTO) so all I did was type in 255.75 and it worked just fine. Yup I updated bios to 1704
