AI Suite has always been a resource hog, always will be. I found that out a long time ago. :) You might like 1 or 2 of the apps, I suppose, like fan control or CPU overclocking, as some folks like those apps. I prefer not to use any of them myself.
It's fan control is known to be one of the best but the rest of the software can cause a lot of havoc, especially if your using multiple hardware monitoring programs. It's really nice to have the advanced fan control on the X Hero vs the only available prior QFan which was slightly limited. I'm currently running my fans off a thermal sensor cable but there is the option for many control variables.

I knew you used the fan control app.....lol We have talked about Al Suite before.
Yeah, I have tried SpeedFan, but it's just too complicated and a pain for me.

Maybe when I find the case I want, I'll get a manual digital(or analog even) fan controller too.

Have you looked at some of the Phanteks Cases Cliff?? They are one of the Best around, just not cheap to buy thou. VERY well built, with tons of room.

Cliff is right, the AI Suite app doesn't need to be running in the background for fan control to work, just the fan control service I think. Still, my machine feels clean without it at all, have you considered the Bios fan control? It's very effective and no software required!

I want one that can really breath. Not one that only has less than an inch around the front, where the air needs to make a 90° turn before entering the case. But thanks anyhow:)

My apartment is small(2 and a half rooms), and where I have to place my PC, gets warm in the summer, as the wall is on the sunny side most of the day, facing south.

I used BIOS on my Z170 MSI board, and it was really easy to set up and respected my wishes.
The problem with the Maximus X is, you need to calibrate first, and it decides the min & max.
I have 3 voltage controlled fans for bottom air intake, and they are all 3 connected to the HAMP header. Being 3 fans(same make & model) the BIOS reads it wrong and sets a too high minimum setting that it doesn't let me go below and that is too noisy for me.

I ran the fan tuning in fan xpert many, many times until I got low enough settings, and then created my profile, so it would run a little quieter when under idle.

If I do it from BIOS this doesn't work.

Yes Cliff, Phanteks makes a lot of different models, They all are made very well, no plastic hardly at all lots of room. As far as my case with the low bottom air....lol .....bet mine still runs cooler than your case right now. But.....my fans run higher than yours too, I would guess, cause I can hear them, which does not brother me at all.
If you ever decide to get a Phanteks case .....you will be impressed after you actually get your hands on it. :)

I am considering the Corsair 500D as an upgrade to my Obsidian 450D but I don't like how almost current cases have panels at the front intake restricting air intake.
