Asus web dev's need a kick in the pants. The X Hero provides no notes but check the X Code download page: " Update Intel CPU Microcode"

So I guess that's what it is, a microcode update. Of course the details are limited though and don't explain why the old Bios passed InSpectre.
That's ok, I can wait, this has just been released, so will take Asus some time to figure everything out.

No .....but why the heck is telling me my bios and Windows IS protected....what am I missing here...

    Attachment 182247
Because it is, sort of, I mean maybe, ummm...

Actually 0x7C microcode was an early patch and may not provide full protection. Intel didn't pull 7C like they did others because it wasn't harmful like some of their early patches. 0x84 is supposed to be better as far as Spectre and microcode stability.

Does anyone have this patch KB4056892 installed? I have not received it via Windows updates. This page comes from the X Hero FAQ page and mentions installing this patch in relation to Meltdown and Spectre:

Does anyone know how to disable secure boot on the Maximus X Hero? Is secure boot an issue with this board when installing Windows?

I have had no issue with secure boot on my Code X, which is basically a Hero.
On my older Hero model I could disable it by setting the OS to "other"

Do you know why it's recommended to disable secure boot when installing Windows?
