I just noticed(or it is new, because of the BIOS update with the new RAID update)IRST(WHQL) has been updated for Maximus X:
Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver software V16.0.2.1086
    Attachment 185327

After updating don't forget to turn off link power management in the performance tab(also check in power options)
    Attachment 185328

    Attachment 185329
Intel just recently released that RST version. I have been running it this week with no issues.

Unstable overclock. Liekly needs more core voltage.

List of BSOD Codes likely related to unstable overclocks

I used BIOS on my Z170 MSI board, and it was really easy to set up and respected my wishes.
The problem with the Maximus X is, you need to calibrate first, and it decides the min & max.
I have 3 voltage controlled fans for bottom air intake, and they are all 3 connected to the HAMP header. Being 3 fans(same make & model) the BIOS reads it wrong and sets a too high minimum setting that it doesn't let me go below and that is too noisy for me.

I ran the fan tuning in fan xpert many, many times until I got low enough settings, and then created my profile, so it would run a little quieter when under idle.

If I do it from BIOS this doesn't work.
I found with the Asus fan control on my Code X, in order to get the minimum lower fan rpm limit, you need to go to the BIOS monitoring page -> fan control, and for each fan, explicitly set it to be PWM instead of auto. Then when you run the calibration it will give you the minimum (otherwise I believe it does voltage control calibration).

    That is correct Geneo.

It's the three voltage controlled ones(not PWN) that are causing the problem.
Along with a new case I will be getting some fans too(and custom cables, too).

Since my AIO/CLC is a Thermaltake Floe Riing RGB TT Premium-Edition and has a USB controller, I might just get a set of Floe Ring fans to match.

Some of my research indicates that also. I had been running 4.9Ghz @ 1.280v which seems totally reasonable for this chip so I confused as to why I would need much more voltage than that? A few posts back you guy's mentioned you were 5Ghz stable with 1.260v. Do I have a bottom of the stack chip?
