    Hi Worf,

Was that with an overclock or stock boost clocks?
That was with EMC enabled lol. Would have been lower if it set the voltage to a more reasonable level but I had already decided to delid.

    95+C, throttling, that sounded unusual!

I guess I got lucky then. I haven't delidded my 8700k. I run 4.8Ghz @ 1.25v and it tops out at around 78c after a good gaming session. That's with a Corsair H110i GT cooler.
An excellent CPU for gaming I must say. Well excellent all round really!
Hmm 78C is still pretty up there, nothing I'm used to. What's the average like? At least 10C less? I have the same cooler so this will be interesting.

Same clock as mine but gaming is lucky to get the CPU to 50c. Delidding both my 6700k and 8700k dropped 20c of the top end.

I am very used to my 4790K topping out at 60C averaging 47-50C. This could be a shock. Anyway, excitement builds as my gear now arrives tomorrow! In time for a weekend build.

I am running mine at identical speed and voltage as yours. My highest temp topped out at 77c on prime95 stress test. I have a Noctua NH-D15s tower cooler. Beyond great for gaming. Mine is not delidded either. My normal gaming temps top out around early 50c. My idle as I am typing this is 32c.

That was Asus multi core enhancement so 6 cores at 4.7 boost with default high core voltage

Yes, I heard that the chip likes to set high voltage in the bios, but nothing that a bit of under volting won't solve..
