    Rate my build

Iíve just ordered the components for a brand new PC, and just wanted some input and outside opinions.
    CPU: AMD FX-6300 3.5GHz 6-core
    RAM: 16GB DDR3
    GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050
    what do you think?
Will it be able to run most/all new games?

Ugh, why so obsolete system ????
For same price you'd probably be able to get new AMD 2200g or even 2400g processor with comparable graphics, any AM4 motherboard and 8GB of DDR4 RAM and get twice the performance with great upgrade path.

I really like the FX series. But they are pretty dated. I had a FX-6300 last year and it was good for older games but it died on newer games and that was with a GTX 970 in it which is faster than a 1050. As the Count recommends I would go with the new Ryzen 3 2200G or Ryzen 5 2400G for the upgrade path. I would even recommend a Ryzen 5 1500X or 1600.

I had previously (actually it's still on the shelf) FX 6350 OC-ed to 4.9GHz and my R5 1600x tripled the performance while running at stock speed.

If you have a tight budget why not consider an older Intel setup such as haswell (z87). The 4790k still performs well.

I remember our conversation last year when I went from the FX 6300 to my R5 1600X. The performance gain was insane.

Sadly the Spectre/meltdown patches have crippled these CPUs. We have three of these in our computers at work. With the latest patches we are locking up constantly with 100% CPU usage and a lot of weird behavior. We are now looking to upgrade our IT Dept machines.

If I wanted to at some point I could just upgrade the CPU right?

Not significantly with any of those older systems. Only newest systems have any upgrade future depending on how low or high you start with.
