    pc parts and prices

Due to BitCoins and pc parts being used by phones, RAM is ultra high and so are other parts.
I have a 5 year old Dell desktop running Windows 10 Pro in which I have replaced the PSU and the hard drive.
It is running well for now but it is vintage therefore....
It is a flip of a coin as to whether to build another or wait; I could wait forever-who knows.
The parts increase has been reflected in the price of most pcs, laptops etc.
    Any comments besides refurb?

Buy a decent prebuilt. I just bought a Dell Inspiron 5675 and you get a good machine for what you pay for.

    >>I have Micro Center near me and you think they get parts less expensively than I could to avoid this expensive market for who knows how long?
I'll see how they price what I want.

    Hi,
For a manufacture they usually always use lowend power supplies because they are cheap and most are locked and can not be overclocked.
I remember a acer I had that had a 200w so a 180w you can ask but I suspect it's not a typo and just a lowend budget unit :)

It's always been my opinion that all OEMs always compete on price, so they buy the cheapest parts available with little thought to quality. After all, they usually give a 1 year warranty. Anything that will last 1 year suits them.

    Hi,
Yep just a sells pitch for selling extended warranties :)
But indeed not worth buying any lowend machines.

PC's are becoming more efficient and SSD's for example don't have the same power demands as say HDD's.

It's mainly with graphics cards where you have to be careful about having enough PSU overhead.

Many of the OEM boxes will be around the 200 watt PSU mark these days.

Quite often they can be 20 pin ATX rather than 24 so careful if you want to swap out the PSU on the OEM motherboard (although you can get 20/24 ATX adapters without issue if needs be.)
