Yep, build both
You should also build one with 128GB of RAM too, that way you can compare them all :)
lol, yeah, I stick the extra 64GB on the side of the case.
Seriously, I need quite a lot of RAM for my tasks. 32GB might be a little bit tight for my needs. I'm not building the computer specifically for gaming, although it might look like a gaming only rig.
Both platforms has their advantages and disadvantages and I am having a hard time deciding which features are more important to me.
Since the whole build will be quite expensive the few hundred dollar price difference between the two does not really matter in the end.
Why an RTX-card you might ask? I need the Tensor cores and other features the card offers. I'd go for the latest and greatest Quadro RTX, but that cost way too much (~$10000 vs ~$1500). I could use the extra VRAM, but I can always upgrade later, when my projects start paying for them selves.
I've noticed a significant performance increase in my gaming benchmark after the disabling the Spectre and Meltdown OS patches. All CPU and GPU frame time spiking smoothed out to flat and minimum FPS increased by a whopping 28 FPS.
Is it possible Microsoft could improve the performance affect with future patches? Do the BIOS microcode's for Spectre and Meltdown have any performance affect directly on the CPU like the OS patches do? Does anyone know what the BIOS microcode's do or how they work?
