I'm not sure what happened to WP. It was not long enough in the market before MS killed it. They were actually quite good devices, but maybe needed a bit of UI and other minor fixes for better usability.

MS never really listened to the customer when it comes to the overall design, usability and features.

I have 2 of them "dead windows phones" Lumia 640Ds with W10 and 535Ds with W8 and both work as phones too. I'm not so sure about these newfangled do-it-all phones. Phone part seems to be only 1% of whole thing.
