What are the latest Display Port 1.3/1.4 features? Is it only applicable to the latest Nvidia drivers? I haven't experienced any issues that I aware of with my display port and monitor. What exactly is this all about?

Anything else? So you actually have to go searching for such tools? For something that can cause such major issues like black screens I'm surprised it's not put on the drivers page or something...

A firmware and a driver is not the same thing.

A firmware is something that is run by the GPU and controls the low level functions, configurations and behaviors of the GPU. Imagine it is as a BIOS.

A driver is something that is the glue between your GPU and the OS, which enables applications to talk to the GPU via the driver.

Think I am not going to mess with my 1080Ti's firmware .....at all. Even if it needed an update. I have no issues with any black screens now, and still waiting for someone to beat one of my scores too....lol So if it ain't broke, don't fix it...

A quick google suggests the Display Port update can cause issues on the latest Nvidia driver, so the new firmware features probably have to be supported by the driver also... I don't think I'm on the current driver so once I update I will see if I have issues.

    ASUS VG49V
    Panel 49" VA
    32:9 aspect ratio
    1800R curve
    Resolution DFHD 3840x1080
    Refresh rate 48-144Hz with FreeSync
    Input lag 11.9 ms
    Extreme Low Motion Blur 85/100/120Hz
    1-ms moving-picture response
    Picture modes Picture-by-Picture (PbP)
    Inputs 2 x HDMI 2.0
    1 x DisplayPort 1.2
    Audio 2 x 5W speakers
    1 x 3.5-mm analog output

Gamers and professionals want as much screen real estate as they can afford, but size must be balanced with other features that make the viewing experience ideal. Introduced today at Computex 2018 in Taipei, Taiwan, the ASUS VG49V fits that bill by delivering a massive 49 display thats packed with technology to improve what you see, whether youre blasting through an FPS at 144Hz or crafting a gorgeous multimedia presentation for work.
    Grading on a curve
The monitors VA panel stretches a super-ultra-wide 32:9 aspect ratio over an 1800R curve that brings the far edges closer for a more immersive experience. The 3840 x 1080 resolution is exactly twice as wide as 1080p, which is why its dubbed Double Full HD or DFHD. You get double the horizontal space of a Full HD monitor, which is tons of width to expand games deep into your periphery and view multiple open windows and tabs.
For multitasking on multiple devices, the VG49Vs Picture-by-Picture mode lets you view input from two separate sources simultaneously. Anyone whos used a powerful desktop PC for intensive work alongside a laptop to handle day-to-day tasks can attest to how handy it is to be able to easily see both on the same screen at once. Devices connect via the VG49Vs DisplayPort 1.2 and dual HDMI 2.0 inputs.
