I thought he said somewhere in the video that this was the way Asus was doing all the Xi boards. He wasn't very enthused about the way they have always done VRMs though.
I thought he said it was for the middle to lower end boards only, cause of cost for the chip....4 phase vs 8 phase chip. So I assume that the Very Expensive top of the line boards would have a much better VRM design ...ie Better chip Like the Apex line.
But there are no reviews for the Apex XI available right now, and it might be a while till we see a full review on one. This is the only Asus board I am interested in....
Did find a small report on the Apex XI .....Still no full review on this board yet, because its not been released. They do mention the VRM's thou. This board will be there most expensive one in there lineup.

I just want to see some practical applications. That video was fine, in theory. But I'm waiting to see if that has much affect on the CPU performance and the board function.
