When you redid the thermal paste, did you take the CPU out of the socket to clean it?
Maybe a pin or two got bent
God I hope not, but with a razor blade you can sometimes fix that.
No never took the CPU out to clean it the first time

I have since took out the CPU and re-de-lidded it and checked the pins and substrate of the CPU and socket, all OK.

    Good
But that brings us back to square one for troubleshooting
And getting ideas for troubleshooting when the system is not in front of me is hard, and Brain Storming remains only Brain Drizzle

Appreciate the help Cliff. The RMA will more then likely take forever so I have ordered another board from Amazon and will sell the replacement when I receive it. so I will be selling my New Asus Prime Z370-A, a delidded 8700K and a new Corsair H115i AIO and with that I will buy another 8700K and hope to win the silicon lottery lol

You do know there is a beta BIOS update for your board today, right?

    BIOS
    Version 5605 Beta Version
    2017/12/15
    8.54 MBytes
    PRIME Z370-A GAMING BIOS 5605
    Sync all core
Sufficient processor cooling is required for better performance:

See that too. But these sticks have been tested by OC UK and found to be fine and always worked from day one. Really do think the motherboard is at fault.

Then if your going to get a new board, join the growing Maximus X community here in the forums:)
Shawn, Steve and I all have different versions

We should start a Maximus X owners thread.... no really

    Hi,
I personally just set the fans in bios to turbo and let it be
I'll only jack the cpu fans up if oc'ing.
Had a bad experience with ai suite and yeah it was just using fan adjustments too :)
Once you have an issue in the os it's tougher to clear up because ai suite kicks back in and the issues return

Someone over at ocn posted a link to a ai suite cleaner
Can't seem to find it though :/
If I do I'll post it for you.
