    Network Sharing File Access Problem

I've been reviewing the simple folder sharing setup on my three Windows 10 PCs. I'm trying to share folders between three computers on the same network by right clicking the folder and giving access to Everyone without using a Home Group. All computers have Windows 10 Pro (PC A is on the Anniversary Update and B & C on the latest FCU). All computers are running Windows Defender and the standard Windows firewall.

The chart below shows the connectivity. Computers B & C can see all folders on all PCs. However, A can see computers B & C but cannot access their shared folders. I've checked all the usual things i.e. folder permissions, advanced sharing permissions, all PCs are on WORKGROUP configured for a home network, run the various network troubleshooters, reset the network, checked the TCP/IPv4 settings are on auto and run sfc /scannow on all PCs.

Please advise what else to check. Note PC is still on the older Anniversary Update - could this be the problem?

Seems like this is a common problem with the 1709 update.

I have a workgroup of 4 windows 10 computers, the master browser computer can 'see' and acces all the computers in the network, but the three other computers can't acces the others.

I've just made a breakthrough! I just tried manually enabling NetBIOS on all PCs (see below) and now each PC can see all the shared folders on every other PC. However, the net view command still gives Error 6118 - The list of servers for this workgroup is not currently available.

Tried that, but the os reset itself overnight. All 3 still has NetBIOS enabled, but the problem returned overnight.

Try this. may have found a workaround. Was reading and researching and found that if you install simple Network Management Protocol, which is not installed by default, it will allow the network to see everything that is on the network. Network Sharing File Access Problem-computer1.jpg

As well as setting share permissions you need to set NTFS permission for it to work

I discovered how to configure fixed IP addresses on the router. All is fine with the network adapter in Windows 10 on the default settings. I don't have SNMP or any SMB functions installed. Many people recommend disabling SMB 1.0 for security e.g. http://www.thewindowsclub.com/disable-smb1-windows
